hey guys,

just a few questions-

1)I want to become a doctor, because i feel i am a healer. But i also want to have a family. I just finished my first degree and want to apply to be a doc for next year, however do you think its possible to be a house officer or a first year resident and also raise a child? Or do you think i'd have to wait until after consultancy? I'd be nearly 38 then and i dont want to wait that long!

2)Also how easy it to become a consultant? After you pass the exams as a senior registrar are you automatically a consultant?

3)Does anyone know which fields in medicine are better for those who want a family? i.e more stable?
4) anyone whos raised a child while doing their med degree? how was it?

thanks for your replies!

If you really want it you can do it. There are several members of my class raising children and many of them are raising young children which I imagine would be harder. It also depends on your school. Find one that has lots of replay classes so you don't always have to be there.
